Alain GOY

Conductor

Born in the Pays de Gex, Alain GOY has enjoyed two professional careers: in civil engineering and in music, with a focus on orchestras.

Alain graduated from the Geneva Conservatory in 1982 with a diploma in trumpet, and completed his musical training with advanced studies in music theory, harmony, piano and chamber music.

As a soloist in classical music ensembles in Geneva, his passion for music in all its forms led him to jazz and the world of musicals.

He successfully directed the Bellegarde-sur-Valserine Big Band for more than 20 years, with which he recorded several albums before performing with his own Big Band (Alain Goy Big Band) and his Quintet "Alain & Friends".

Author, composer and arranger, he worked on arrangements for professional orchestras, before creating in 2006 his own musical label "United Sounds Of Jazz". Since 2009, he has directed the Big Band of Divonne.

Alain was also Head of teaching at the Ecole de Musique Intercommunale du Pays de Gex between 2001 and 2010.

Alain’s career has been marked by a wide variety of musical adventures as a choir conductor, accompanist, music teacher for children and adults ; skills that he transposed into the commercial world, as company motivator on themes such as: management, group cohesion, team spirit and trust. Alain’s experience, inquisitive nature, open-mindedness, artistic creativity, listening skills, sensitivity and interpersonal skills are the keys to his know-how and success. Passionate, enthusiastic and generous are the words that mark Alain’s musical ventures.

"How does one feel when conducting a Big Band?
...20 musicians watch you…a movement of the hand and the tsunami of sound makes your hair stand on end! »
